EU Settlement Scheme
- EU Settlement Scheme
About the Service
The EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) ensures that EU, EEA and Swiss citizens (and eligible family members) living in the UK can continue to stay after Brexit. Whether you need settled status or pre-settled status, we help you secure your rights and take the stress out of the application journey.
At Charles Simmons Immigration Solicitors, we understand how confusing post-Brexit immigration rules can feel. We work with you to assess your eligibility, gather the strongest evidence, and submit your application in a way that gives your case the best chance of success.
Eligibility & Requirements
To apply for the EUSS, you generally need to:
- Be an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen (or a qualifying family member)
- Have been resident in the UK by the qualifying date
- Provide identity documents and proof of continuous residence
- Demonstrate family relationships (for dependants)
- Submit your application before the official closing deadline (unless exceptional circumstances apply)
You may qualify for pre-settled status (temporary) or settled status (permanent) based on how long you’ve lived in the UK and whether you meet continuous residence criteria.
Application Process
- Initial eligibility check: We assess your status, residence history, and family situation.
- Document collection: Identity proofs, residence records (bank statements, bills, employment), and relationship proofs as needed.
- Application submission: Online application, identity verification (via UKVCAS or app).
- Decision & follow-up: Once status is granted, we help with next steps (such as switching to citizenship or bringing family members).
- Appeals & late applications: If status is refused, we advise on appeals or special authorization routes.
